Eastside Stitchers Meet and Offer Encouragement to Overworked Seamstress

Last year my dancer sons performed in Giselle and the Swan Lake Pas de Deux.  They take ballet from a private ballet coach, not at a studio, so there are few performance opportunities.  But their teacher wants all of the students (about 12 total) to get some performance experience, so she has these "friends and family nights" once a year where they can show the  Pas they have learned, solo variations, and a few group dances as well. It is a very low key thing, but, where it used to be practice tutus and  just tights and t-shirts (for the guys), it is now COSTUMES.

Well, not really, but still, I find myself sewing tunics and vests, and so on, for them to wear.  Last year, I made these 2 "poet shirts" to be worn in both Giselle and Swan Lake,

The boys HATED them.  They were pretty baggy and the sleeves were huge and flowing.  So this year, their teacher said they should just wear them again.  But, they wanted me to either seriously alter them, or make something different.  Well, one thing has led to another, and their studio performance is Saturday, and  for some reason I have to make 3 vests and a white shirt in 2 days.  Ugh!  no time for knitting.

I complained about it quite a bit at Stitching tonight.  Mostly, my stitch buds just laughed at me.

We did meet at Crossroads Mall, in Bellevue, WA.  (5 - 9 pm).  And what were we knitting?  (no crocheters came tomight... both working late I think).

First of all, GwenS was wearing her Color Affection Shawl by Veera Valimaki.

Gwen knit it in Malabrigo fingering weight, so, not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it is gorgeous to touch, too.

Gwen had started a new cowl.Such a pretty pattern.

Jenknotsed8 has started her 2nd pair of 2-at-a-time socks!  She is making the Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder.  She was just casting on today, so mostly what we saw was the yarn.

Colleen was working on a new hat.  IDK why the pattern calls for it to be knit flat, but the yarn was gorgeous.  The photo doesn't really capture the beautiful color.

Tara was wearing a cowl

and has made huge progress on another one!

The yarn is from Quince & Co, and Tara learned about the company on Ravelry.

Chockelet  had brought the most beautiful alpaca lace yarn that she bought at Churchmouse  Yarn and Teas on the 2012 Puget Sound LYS Crawl.

She is knitting it into a beautiful lacy scarf.

Back to the sewing machine!  No knitting for this cat tonight, tomorrow... but I hope to knit Friday.

Stay safe and well.

Yours,
