Tutorial 1

This is a very simple square to hook, yet, very sweet looking.  The directions from the designer are clear and easy to follow.  I would like to thank Nellas April for this sweet square.  She has generously given this design as a free Ravelry download.  Please check out her other designs on Ravelry here.

Crocheted on US size I  5.5mm hook I got 6"  exactly, but I tend to crochet loosely.

The designer's instructions are in black, my additions for clarity will be in blue.

Instructions:

Make Magic Ring

The directions given here come from the PlanetJune blog
This is a really cool ring; I like how it is adjustable.

 
Make a loop with the tail hanging down on the left







Let working yarn fall in back of the loop








Insert hook into the loop from front to back








Draw up loop









(working yarn is now over my index finger)









Ch 1.  This does not count as a stitch










Round 1

In Magic Ring
Beg 2 dc cl :

Dc in Ring (working over both the ring and the yarn tail)

be sure to make the 2dc cl around the tail as well, 
you can pull slightly on the tail to reduce 
the size of the magic loop.  







When you finish, pull the tail to make the loop snug,
 and Join with a ss at top of beg 2dc cl. (8 ch2 spaces).














Round 2
 Ss to first ch2 space








NOTE!! THE LEGS OF THE 4DC CL ARE SPLIT ON EITHER SIDE OF THE 2DC CL!
