JulieAnny's Stained Glass Afghan Square by Julie Yeager

2012.05.12

These are the photo rounds  for the JulieAnny's Stained Glass Afghan Square, the May Filler Square for the 2012 BAMCAL Group on Ravelry.  The square was designed by Julie Yeager and is in Julie Yeager Ravelry.  This is not a  tutorial, just a set of photos of each finished round, with a few comments where I had trouble (always caused by my not reading carefully or not counting).  In my opinion,  this is a gorgeous square.  Some of the people in the group have hooked it in a single color, and it looks amazing.  And, every color combination I've seen (as long as the colors look good together) works well.

I would like to thank Julie Yeager for this amazing design, and putting it up for free on Ravelry.  It is extremely creative, and much easier to make than it looks.

This is such a pretty square, for some reason, I was scared to start it...

Round 10

Round 11:
for some reason, I have 27 dc on the first side (I must have missed the first and last dc in the corner).  Since I don't want to rip back, I am just going to make sure I catch the fan in the middle of each side. So rather than ripping, I counted each side and used the middle dc for the connecting dc.  If I had an even number of stitches, I put the connecting dc and the next dc in the same stitch.
measured here, got @11.75 inches

Round 11

Round 12:
did a round of sc tbl with (2sc ch 1 2 sc)  in each corner

Round 12 Final Round
This is the one I made for the University of Arizona Afghan for my son, J, who will attend U of A next Fall.
I switched the stitches and colors a bit on the framing rounds, making a row of sc in Round 11, then dc in Round 12.

I actually have a Where in the World is f1bercat segment, but I want to get back to my WIP's, I need to knit the heels on the MOCK for SKA's May challenge.  I might get on to post it tomorrow, instead.  If I don't, Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

Stay safe and well.

Yours,

  1. Très joli, mais les explications ne sont pas claires donc pas compréhensibles.
    A bientôt.
