Hello!
Yesterday, my 3 youngest kids (Moogie, Himes, and Pookie) and I took a break from the chaos of cousins at my brother's house and headed north to Santa Monica, California.

We lived in Santa Monica 15 years ago, before we moved north to the Pacific Northwest, and it is where my Godchildren live. They stayed with us 2 years ago while their parents were having some problems, but we had not seen them since they moved back home, and it was wonderful to see them again. They look so great.
We took the youngest of the 3 kids, Scooter Pie, with us to explore one of Santa Monica's best places (other than the BEACH), the Third Street Promenade. This is 3 block stretch of Third Street that has been closed to car traffic
and the sidewalks widened
so restaurants can have more outdoor seating.
The streets still have the apartments and offices over the shops that keep it a real part of the city.
There are these wonderful ivy covered Dinosaur Statues/Fountains at the ends of the blocks:
Three movie theaters:
Lots of shops and restaurants, and if you can't find what you want in the shops, there are these portable kiosks that sell all kinds of goods in the center "street" areas
There used to be at least 3 bookstores, but I only saw one. The jacaranda trees that line the promenade still had the last of their blooms.
And, though only early afternoon, the street performers were beginning to appear
The sun was shining, there was a breeze from the ocean (only 4 blocks away), all in all a glorious day. The only problem: no Yarn Stores!
Stay safe and well.
Yours,
