Spring is Coming!

 Hello:
A quick as possible post about the regular meet up of the Eastside Stitchers at Crossroads tonight.  We had quite a large group, so I'm hoping that I can remember who was knitting what.

Say cheese!
BlueberryMary was working on some socks she has rescued from the WIP detention.
Anya was making yarn hands!
NightOrchid is knitting top down mittens from some reclaimed yarn.
Pamela2708 was knitting part of her vest.
Addie was modeling a Barley.
CrunchyNumbers is slowly working on her shawl.
WireKnitter brought this beautiful shawl.
Wajio brought her Estonian Lace sample.
GwenS is almost to the crown of her doubleknit hat.
She was also working on an opado (octopus) for Addie.
Chockelet brought her unfinished Lluna shawlette.
Anerenbe (so good to see you!) cast on something new.
Ugh!  Chibirat came, but somehow I don't have a photo of her project.
Look, by the time I was ready to leave, Anerenbe's project was already a recognizable Barley hat!
I was working on my Center Cable Wrap.
The color is a pretty dark green, much nicer than the washed out photo above.

Is there something wrong with my priorities

That my first thought when i stepped off the airplane at SeaTac was, "O good, I get to listen to Hamilton on the drive home!"

Friday of Mid-Winter Break

Hello: Yesterday,  Moogie and I drove up to visit the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. We had a wonderful time.  after, we had a late lunch on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I dropped Moogie off at her cousin's apartment,  then crawled back through the traffic  (1.5 hours!) Then went out to dinner at Del Frisco's Grille  in Irvine Spectrum.

Visiting My Brother

I'm down in Orange for a few days to visit my family and posting from my phone with all its limitations.  My mom is doing really well. She can't turn her head, but is in great spirits.  My brother is getting close to the end, but he is determined to make it to May when his oldest son will come home from college for the summer. His spirit is amazing. I was talking about watching Star Trek, Next Generation, and then how I had started Deep Space None, but not finished the show, stopping after the 3rd season. My brother motioned to remove his breathing mask, and with his very faint and labored speech told me I had to go back and finish that show, that the last 2 seasons are awesome. It's nice to know that his priorities are in order.  I've brought my Bigger On The Inside Shawl and have it now ready to bind off. Also, I'm knitting a new design of mine, I'm calling it the Center Cable Wrap for now. I couldn't make it through the stress of these visits without knitting.  I don't know how non-knitters cope. Peace.

Wednesday of Mid-Winter Break

Hello:
It was a good night for knit hats and mittens.

The Eastside Knitters had our regular meet up at Crossroads in Bellevue.  I left a bit early as I am headed down to Southern California tomorrow to visit my brother and my Mom and Dad.  It's Mid-Winter Break right now for my school district, and I am having a wonderful week off.

On Saturday, I drove to Tacoma with GwenS to hang out at the Madrona Fiber Arts Festival.  I stuck to my yarn diet pretty well, and only  bought one skein.  I have been wanting some gradient yarn, so I bought this gorgeous cake from Huckleberry Knits.
And!  I made a down payment on a Pocket Wheel.
Sunday was Yarn Church at Panera's where I worked on my Bigger On The Inside Shawl in the T.A.R.D.I.S. colorway by Schmutzerella.
Monday I knit away on the TARDIS shawl and a new wrap I'm designing, as well as hooking another square for my niece's pink afghan.
Yesterday, I started playing with loop stitch knitting and made a Sheep finger puppet, and a sheep stuffie.

Then, today Moogie and I went to the Seattle Art Museum to see an amazing exhibit of Kehinde Wiley's portraits.
Followed by the regular Wednesday night meet up of the Eastside Stitchers.
Pamela2708 is knitting with two balls of Crazy Zauberball.
Puzan brought her finished Lluna Shawlette.
JitteryKnitter is almost finished with her Lluna.
GwenS is knitting another Barley.
Wire knitter is knitting a Shawl.
Hvrdmnky is knitting a very spring-like shawl.
NightOrchid and the  beautiful Anya came tonight.  NightOrchid was organizing some reclaimed yarn.
CrunchyNumbers has almost finished her shawl.
BlueBerryMary has started something new.
And!
SpinningLizzy is using up what is left of a skein.

Peace,

I'm a Teacher, WHEEEEEE!

Super quick post.

There is a line in the Broadway musical "Hamilton," during one of George Washington's songs where he promotes Lee to lead the army, and Lee sings, "I'm a General, WHEEEEEEE!" right before being overwhelmed by the British army.  This convoluted sentence is supposed to show that right now, I feel a bit like General Lee.  The teacher I was aiding for suddenly quit because of health problems, and I have taken over his classes.  I feel like singing, "I'm a teacher, WHEEEEEEEE!"  I'm not totally overwhelmed, but it's close.

Regular Eastside Stitchers Wednesday Meet up

Hello:
I have started a new job.  In fact, I started today.  The young teacher I was helping as an instructional aide has quit because of health reasons, and I have taken over his classes.  I am a bit overwhelmed as I am just getting into the swing of what he had covered with the students, and trying to plan out next week, as well as the rest of the year.  The classes are Gifted Geometry (3 classes) and Algebra I (2 classes).  I am very excited to be teaching these classes, but they are both challenging, though for different reasons.  Anyway, I did make it to Crossroads for the regular Wednesday meet up of the Eastside Stitchers, but as I am very tired, this post will be fairly quick.

BlueberryMary has started another Heart scarf.  You might remember that last week she was working on a solid red one.  She is using self striping yarn for this version.
Chockelet is knitting the Lluna Shawlette by our own VanesaPolo.
DomesticShorthair is knitting a bed jacket from a vintage pattern.
Pamela2728 has made huge progress on another vest for her Master Knitters Program.
Hrvdmnky finished another Hitchhiker.  We are joining the headless hunt this week as she hunts for some glass heads at Pier 1 Imports for both of us to use blocking our hats.
GwenS is knitting a doubleknit hat in seahawks colors.
We had a new Eastside Stitcher joining us at the pushed together square tables at Crossroads.  Chibirat was casting on a brand new project.
JitteryKnitter is also knitting the Lluna Shawlette.

Puzan is working on a scarf?  Is it another Georgetown by Laura Aylor

Anuwizard and ReadnitDream were our last 2 stitchers to show up.  Anuwizard is knitting a bright orange and yellow scarf, and I forgot to get a photo of Readnitdream's project.
