Eastside Stitchers save my Blogging Reputation

I totally have to post tonight or my name is Mud.  I've been working on "Camp" for my middle school, trying to give a "camp" experience to some of our 6th graders, and although it is really fun, and I love it, it leaves me totally exhausted.  Plus, I'm spending time each night preparing for the next day, which, with the knitting and spinning I am trying to do, makes me lazy about my blog.  But, I did manage to make it to the Wednesday evening meet up of the Eastside Stitchers, and I got photographic proof!

Wajio is knitting some new Baby Moccasins.  These are so darn cute that they almost make me want to have another baby.

We had a new Eastside Stitcher join us tonight, Hairybikers.  We met in the Fiber Demonstration Booth at the Northwest Folklife Festival on Saturday.  She was knitting a beautiful lacey blanket.

Barbara (O, dear, what is your Ravelry Name?) is knitting a half-circle shawl in some lovely variegated yarn.

BlueBerryMary, after a bit of angst and some serious concentration, cast on a beautiful provisional cast on for one of the 2015 North Puget Sound Yarn Shop Crawl projects.  A felted bag from Mad Cow Yarn.

JulieMustKnit is almost finished with this chunky lace and garter wrap/shawl.  Yes, those are NUPPS!!  in each of the lace motifs. 

GwenS is making an Akari Cowl with MadelineTosh in what might be either Seahawks or Mariners colors.

ReadnitDream brought a sample of her spinning knit up in a swatch.

and a cowl that she is currently working on.

And the beautiful Anya brought a No Swatch Hat (designed by VanesaPolo) that she is knitting for her Dad.

She also brought a swatch.

I worked on my cabled OWL socks.  I am getting close to the top of the legs in those socks, and should be starting the ribbing, soon.

Owl and I got home around noon.  I plan to go to fiber Friday at Crossroads tomorrow, Northwest Folklife  on Saturday, and knitting at Panera's on Sunday.

owl rides the subway to Yankee Stadium

No lie, the subway from Union Square to Yankee Stadium was so packed  that I could have lifted my feet and remained suspended. Luckily, I got a seat after 2 stops, and was able to knit.

owl goes to NYU 's CAS graduation

Can you see her on the stage at Madison Square Garden?  Today, owl attended Moogie 's NYU  College of Arts and Sciences graduation ceremony.  The whole thing took about 2 hours. I got tons of knitting done. I have finished the feet, and started the sole flaps. The whole university ceremony is tomorrow morning at Yankee Stadium.  I should  be able to make it to the heel turns.

 After the ceremony today, we went to Little Italy for pizza at Lombardi 's.

owl's trip 6

Can you see the Statue of Liberty?  We could.  we walked back to the hotel on Union Square and met up with Poppop and Uncle Chuck. We all went to dinner at the Mermaid  Cafe, where it was happy hour all night. Moogie and I split a lobster roll. Then back to the hotel for the night. I walked a bit over 20,000 steps.

The Highline Park walk was a real treat.  If you make it to NYC, I recommend it.  You can climb the stairs to this former elevated train track in lots of places, and the views are always wonderful.  It is beautifully landscaped, and there are places to sit all along it.

We met up with Moogie. The views from the park were wonderful.

Moogie and Himes got a little tired of me taking photos of owl, so I just brought it along, but took photos of them instead!

We walked along the Highline. It's an old elevated train track that has been converted into a park.

You can easily see the actual track, but they have planted grasses, bushes, flowers and trees all along the platform.  It is beautiful.

We visited the new World Trade Center tower, and the 9-11Memorial.
The memorial was achingly sad.

The hotel Internet is slow and my phone doesn't like to post more than 2 photos, so these will be a series of short posts.

 We ate lunch with Doc and Himes.

Then we rode the subway downtown.

O.W.L.'s Trip to NYC

I have brought the cable toe-up socks I'm designing as part of my herbology OWL.  The pattern is easy to memorize, so it's a good one for travel. The cable can be a little hard to work on the subway, but I managed to knit a bit every time we sat down.

brunch with Moogie

Egg white omelets and blueberry pierogies. Moogie wore the sweater I knit her for Christmas.  It looks great on her even though she has lost weight since I took it in!
