Hello:
I took a "Successful Plying" class at FiberFusion Northwest with Sarah Anderson today. First, wow, what a lovely teacher. Clear, interesting, kind, patient, and thorough. We first tried to underply yarn, then overply, then find the sweet spot in the middle. My "balanced" yarn looks a bit like my overplyed, but at least I have some understanding of where I am trying to go.
Then we plied some thick and thin yarn where you deliberately over ply then under ply in a pattern on the same skein. Finally, we plied some "spiral ply" with really fat singles and some lace weight Merino. I love how mine came out!
Peace,
