Why haven't the Seattle and Bellevue school districts shut down or gone to remote learning?
These answers posted to the r/seattle sub on reddit sum it up pretty nicely:
Unless Governor Inslee releases the districts from their obligations to provide equitable education for all students, we can't go to online or distance learning. So many families depend on the schools. What will happen if we close? It would have to be a true emergency. As of today, Bellevue schools have 0 cases. I know we are worried. But we need to be there for our students and their families.
My classes are getting very small, though. And wow, it's a joy to teach such small classes. I pay for it each evening though when I have to answer 40 emails from students and parents.
