Ice Cream, Tri'Coterie, and Knitting

Hello:

Eastside Stitchers met at Crossroads tonight for some ... healthy... ice cream treats, and yummy yarn.

We had a nice size group, partly because we are just awesome, but partly because we had some guests.  Maylin, of the gorgeous Tri'Coterie Designs (including the beautiful wingspan) and beautiful yarns was in town for a Cat Bordhi retreat.  Maylin and our own Hrvdmnky attended the retreat, and then local members of the Tri'Coterie Group on Ravelry stopped by our knitting group to say hi to Maylin, and get a chance to see some of the yarn up close.  Hrvdmnky often knits with Tri'Coterie Yarns, and designs for the label.

GwenS finished the Aviatrix (except for weaving in) she is making for a friend's baby shower this weekend.  The color is really purple, the yarn is Debbie Bliss Cashmerino.  What a luxurious hat.

Hrvdmnky was almost finished with a new sock, "Grape Sock."

Skeinherder has finished (all but weaving in) her Footsies.

She also brought her finished Rasta Bag.  She still needs to put in the lining, she brought 2 choices, but the knitting is finished.  Another Malabrigo March project finished.

Colleen is making great progress through her donated stash of fun fur with this very pretty pink fur scarf.

I asked Colleen how her baby sweater is going.  She closed her eyes, and just shook her head, no.  I dropped the topic.

Chockelet brought a new incarnation of her attempt at a Charlotte's Web Shawl.  You might remember that she did a spectacular frog last week of her first attempt because the yarns were just not doing it for her.   This one is with two colors of Madelinetosh Tosh Marino Light, French Grey and Pop Rocks (guess which yarn in the photo is which), and a skein of Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in Boheme.

She also brought a new shawl, Sundry, also being knit in Madelinetosh Tosh Marino Light (is it Mad May? I think so).  The colors for this shawl are not pink, but rather Red (Tart), and Gray (Tern).

WireKnitter  brought a beautiful sweater, Pebble, by Laura Aylor, in "Logwood," also a Madelinetosh yarn, this one Tosh Pashmina.

I don't know how well you can see the stitches in this photo, but the "wrong side" or inside of the sweater is really beautiful.  WireKnitter thinks the sweater will be reversible, and I agree.

Our Celebrated Guest, Maylin, was working on a mobius cowl (what else would you  be inspired to make at a Cat Bordhi retreat?) in her own gorgeous yarn.  The colors are Iron Throne and Frost.

Congratulations are due to Hrvdmnky who announced that she is expecting GIRLS!  I expect to see quite a bit of pink around the tables at Crossroads soon.

I won't say who was eating the ice cream.  Just that they used the excuse of needing calcium.

We missed all our members who couldn't make it tonight, and hope to see you next week.  Remember, we need to discuss the North Sound LYS Tour.  And we missed our East Coast member.

Small Group, Big Frog

Hello:

The high temperature today in Bellevue was 68 degrees F.  Amazing.  Clear, sunny, and beautiful.

Eastside Stitchers  met at Crossroads, but since we have a few people out of town, it was a small group.  We did have one new person come to stitch, and it was lovely to see her.

Chockelet brought her Charlotte's Web Shawl.  She is using the Koigu she originally bought for a Linen Stitch Scarf.

Redbird1 called from the East Coast.  It was so wonderful to talk.  She has finished putting away all of her yarn, and has gone through some of her old WIP's.  Her big news was that she finished her Guernsey Triangle by Jared Flood, and is blocking it, even as I type.

This beautiful shawl is made in Loft in the Camper colorway.  Redbird1 also blocked an Infinitude Scarf by Jeni Chase that she had finished before she moved.  It's in Quince and Co. Lark.

It is nice to know that Redbird1 has such excellent blocking help.

Back at Crossroads, Chockelet decided that she just didn't like the way the Koigu colors were combining,

and she began to Frog it.

Wajio was just beginning a new pair of fingerless gloves.

Colleen was wrestling some eyelash yarn into a scarf.

GwenS was knitting an Aviatrix hat by Justine Turner in Debbie Bliss Cashmarino.

Tara1682 finally has her beautiful Cloisters Shawl back from her brother's car, and is working on it,, again.

And that about wraps it up.  Except for Chockelet's doomed Charlotte's Web.

Eastside Stitchers Crowd Around 1 Table

Hello:

Eastside Stitchers met as usual at Crossroads tonight for some stitching fun.  One of the things I like about how our group is developing, is that we are really using our Ravelry Group for communication.  For instance, Anerenbe was feeling under the weather, so she left a message in a thread for tonight saying that she would not make it to Crossroads.  This gives us a heads up as to how many tables we will need, but also, keeps those of us who tend to (s)mother a bit relief from worry when regular members don't show.

We were missing a few more people because of either illness or vacations, so we decided to stay tight around one big round table, and got a bit ... full, but never too full to have stitching space.

MsWiz was knitting a Sock Monkey Hat.  She cast on the nose using Judy's Magic Cast On for the first time.  Thank goodness I had brought my Cast On Bind Off book by Leslie Ann Bestor.  And thank goodness for Wireknitter who helped with the first round.

CathieC has made huge progress on her potato chip scarf.  During the evening she dropped, and picked up, a stitch.  Isn't it great to learn how to FIX your knitting?

Colleen was knitting a fun fur scarf.  The yarn was donated from MsWiz's stash.

GwenS was knitting on, then finished the body of, a beautiful Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater in Malabrigo, of course.

Wireknitter was knitting a G'day Boomerang by Susan Ashcroft in some Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock in Heavyweight.  It is nice to find deep stash that is so beautiful.

Chockelet has made fine progress on a Charlotte's Web Shawl by Maie Landra. 

Skeinherder was knitting Footies by Quirky Bird Knits.  She is using Malabrigo, of course, in Zarzamora colorway.  She used the same yarn in her Donnie's Hat.  She will be in Malabrigo from head to toe.

Tara1682 has made more progress on her beautiful Cobble by Kitman Figueroa.  She was unsure that the tonal qualities of the yarn would allow the pattern to show clearly, but I think you can see, even in this mediocre photo, that the yarn looks beautiful in this pattern.

And, finally, Hrvdmnky was knitting a ribbed scarf, of her own design, in some beautiful turquoise, well mostly turquoise, by Cephalopod Yarns.

We talked about gambling, tipping, ice cream, and yarn crawls, especially the South Sound LYS Crawl, and the North Sound LYS Crawl, which will both be coming up in May.
